Firewood Festival

THERE'S a superb summer treat in store for all the family when the first free Festival of Firewood takes place in the Cairngorms National Park.

Planning is now underway for a dynamic celebration of the natural fuel of the future at the Insider Festival site at Inshriach, near Aviemore on

The Firewood Festival is a prelude to the Insider, which is shaping up to be one of the Highlands' finest music events of the summer.

With a beautiful setting, a laid back atmosphere, fine food and drink and an eclectic line up, this friendly wee festival runs on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 June.

People with tickets to the Insider will be able to camp after the Firewood Festival; those fancying making a full weekend of it can book tickets here.

The Firewood Festival is free and no booking is required. Activities for children from local schools start at 12noon.  

At 4pm the main programme gets underway, with talks, workshops, demonstations, food, fires, music and merriment.

On Thursday 12 August the Firewood Festival will be at the Grantown Show - watch this space for details of exciting activities, attractions and exhibitors that will feature.

Directions to Fire Festival:

Coming from the south on the A9 take the first turning to Aviemore. At the roundabout at the south of town turn right towards Coylumbridge. After a mile take the right turn signposted Inshriach on the B970. After 4 miles you come to the Inshriach Nursery Gardens. Inshriach Farm and the Fire Festival is the first turning on the right after the Nursery Gardens. Parking will be clearly signposted from the road.
