Woodfuel Action Plan and Steering Group

This website was set up as part of the Cairngorms National Park Woodfuel Action Plan, launched in August 2010. Your can read the full plan here. The Plan was formulated with input from the Cairngorms Woodfuel Steering Group, whose members include Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA), Forestry Commission Scotland, ConFor, Highland Council, Moray Council, Aberdeenshire Council, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Community Woodlands Association. It examines the potential woodfuel supply and the heat demand in the Cairngorms National Park and identifies the opportunities and barriers to meeting that demand through woodfuel markets. There is considerable scope to expand woodfuel supply within the Park to meet a significant proportion of demand, and actions to develop opportunities are recommended.

Implementation of the Woodfuel Action Plan is underway through the actions of all partner organisations and is co-ordinated by CNPA through the Woodfuel Steering Group, which meets regularly. Steering Group papers can be viewed here.
